Position Overview

As the Tax Manager / Financial Services Practice Leader, you’ll focus on building strong relationships and understanding the Client’s financial situation so they benefit from tailored tax strategies that minimize taxes in both the short and long term. In addition, you’ll ensure the accuracy and integrity of the tax and financial products they receive.

Key Responsibilities

• Build strong client relationships through face to face meetings, consulting on their tax and related affairs and completing the preparation of the tax returns and financial statements
• Deliver an exceptional client experience to ensure client retention
• Supervise a team (3 to 5 depending on the time of year) consisting of bookkeepers and admin support.
• Prepare T1 and T2 returns and financial statements using Tax Prep Software and Sage Bookkeeping
• Ensure the accuracy, compliance and integrity of client Tax, GST/HST, AgriStability and AgriInvest
• Recognize client needs and connect them with our other domain experts within the company and network.
• Lead connection/interface with CRA - builds relationships and networking with CRA, government, collaboration with operations, sales. Efile committee, ASAI,
• PartiCompany Valuescipate in client appreciation events to build relationships and brand awareness

What you Will Bring:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience with a tax preparation or accounting firm.
• Proficiency in tax preparation & accounting software, preferably with Taxprep and Xero. iFirm knowledge would be desirable.
• Experience preparing corporate tax returns for farms and small businesses.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Business or Accounting Degree or Diploma
• Canadian Tax knowledge and research skills and desire to learn and problem solve are critical to the role
