Senior Director, Technology Report to Managing Partner, Chief Technology Officer Location: Corporate Head Office – Toronto, Ontario

About the Position: The Senior Director, Technology is a hands-on leader, pivotal in shaping and driving Customers technology vision. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, CTO, this role has a strong emphasis on: Digital Transformation: Collaborating with business leaders to identify and implement digital initiatives that enhance operations, improve customer experiences, and drive growth. You will lead the shift from IT-driven to business-driven innovation to position Our customer as an industry leader. Data Management and Analytics: You will build and execute a strategy to leverage data as a strategic asset. Strengthen data governance, foster a data-driven culture, and enhance decision-making through insights and analytics. Partnering with the existing Power BI development team to align data initiatives with organizational goals. This role requires a proactive approach to aligning technology with Our customer's strategic goals, managing complex projects, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll transform challenges into opportunities, empowering Our customer to lead in its industry. IT Operations: Leading a team of IT Operations and Security ~ 5 people, you bring a keen knowledge of IT Operations to this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Roadmap & Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the CTO to develop and execute roadmaps for IT infrastructure, operations, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. Engage with Our customer’s leadership team to identify and prioritize digital transformation opportunities that address key business challenges.
Digital Transformation: Take co-ownership of Our customer’s digital transformation journey. Develop and implement a comprehensive and proactive business transformation strategy to drive growth, enhance operational efficiency, and improve financial performance.
Collaborate with business leaders to align business transformation efforts with strategic objectives across the various business streams.
Partner with stakeholders to evaluate existing business processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement value-added technology solutions.
Drive change management initiatives and ensure successful adoption of new processes, technologies, and ways of working.
Lead cross-functional teams in identifying and executing transformational initiatives across all departments.
Solution Design and Architecture: design robust, scalable, and secure solutions leveraging modern technologies
Project management: Manage smaller projects, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources efficiently in delivering solutions on time and within budget.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends in digital transformation technologies such as automation and data solutions, whether through RPA (Power Automate), AI, or other technologies.
IT Operations & Cybersecurity Management: Lead and ensure seamless, secure, and efficient technology environments. Develop and enforce major IT policies and governance frameworks. Provide mentorship within the IT department and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
Oversee and provide guidance to the BI team and overall BI roadmap, alongside the design, development, and maintenance of BI tools and systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs.
Vendor Management & Budget Planning: Collaborate with the CTO to optimize and track budgets and manage vendor relationships, including selection of technology vendors for optimal value and alignment with Our customer’s needs.
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership: Serve as a key advocate for technology driven business solutions by rallying Our customer’s leadership to collaborate in digital transformation. Transform the perception of digital initiatives from IT-centric to business-driven.
Job Requirements: Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or similar field preferred.
10+ years of experience in leading business digital transformation.
10+ year of experience in leading and managing business intelligence programs.
2+ years experience overseeing an IT Operations / Security Team
Expert knowledge in MS SQL, database management, and ETL tools.
Experience in software development, ideally with management of development teams, and expertise in SQL plus another programming language (Java/C#/VB). Web development experience is advantageous.
Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is required, in addition to some knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R.
Experience with innovation management best practices such as Design Thinking, Agile, open innovation, UX Design, root case analysis, service design, software development life cycle etc.
Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform, with emphasis on Power Automate, and Power BI.
Demonstrated experience managing hybrid environments in Microsoft Active Directory and Azure. Office 365 administration.

Must have a combination of technical, business, and leadership skills.
Strong knowledge of the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in digital transformation, such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data analytics, automation, internet of things, and cybersecurity.
An understanding of the industry, market, customer, and competitor dynamics, as well as the regulatory implications of digital transformation. Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills are required to align the vision and objectives of the digital transformation and to foster a culture of innovation and change.
Strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills to design and execute effective digital solutions that create value and competitive advantage.
An effective communicator and presenter, verbal, written and visual, with the ability to effectively engage clients at all levels.
Strong technical knowledge of data management systems, data warehousing methodology, data quality, data modelling, data governance, analytics, and predictive modeling.
Proven ability to lead digital transformation initiatives, including project management, business analysis, requirements gathering, stakeholder communication, and change management.
Hands-on leader with the ability to work with employees at all levels. Adept at problem-solving and fostering an inclusive, collaborative team environment.
Ability to speak other languages is considered an asset.
