Junior Accountant

Calgary, Alberta

Our Client is hiring a Junior Accountant that with operate out of their Calgary office. The Junior Accountant will support the full cycle accounting processes including Bank Reconciliations, Revenue Reporting, Accounts Receivable reporting, Sales Tax calculations and submissions, Financial Analytics, plus have the opportunity to contribute to other key accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

· Post revenue to the financial system and reconcile monthly bank statements and revenue accounts.

· Calculate and remit Sales Tax.

· Prepare and analyze financial information such as cash flow reports, financial variance reports, key business metrics.

· Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

· Record journal entries and reconcile accounts using Great Plains accounting software.

· Assist with month-end and year-end closings, including financial report preparation.

· Collaborate with team members on ad hoc accounting requests.

· Contribute to key projects as required.

Qualifications : 

· 1 to 3 Years experience in financial reporting, accounting and analysis, including internships or co-op experience.

· Experience with month end and year end close processes including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.

· Exposure to audit preparation and supporting internal/external audits.

· Certificate or Diploma in Accounting or a related field.

· CPA Designation (or actively pursuing CPA) preferred

· Understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting principles

· Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements, variance reports and cash flow statements

· Knowledge of tax compliance, sales tax filings and regulatory reporting is an asset

· Budgeting and forecasting processes, assisting with Financial planning and analysis

· Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP, NetSuite, Workday, other)

· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, and data analysis).

· Familiarity with data analytics and automation tools

· Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial concepts and information to non-financial stakeholders.

· A strong problem solver who takes initiative in resolving accounting discrepancies and improving processes.
